Why is it so hard to catch up with Germany?

Why is it so hard to catch up with Germany?

Even though many tried, very few countries have managed to catch up with the richest countries in the past 100 years. While several dozens of countries have risen from poor to the middle-income category, the emergence almost always stops there. There is even a popular term called the middle-income trap to highlight the inherent difficulties in becoming a truly wealthy country. The lecture will discuss the general as well as some of the Czechia-specific challenges in this regard.

Krisztian Orban, the owner of Oriens, a leading private equity group will deliver the lecture on Friday, April 19 at 7:00 PM, VŠE – RB 209.

After the lecture, light refreshments will be served.

About the speaker: Krisztian Orban holds master’s degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. He is a former McKinsey consultant, a former CEO, and the founder of Oriens, which owns companies in the Czech Republic, Germany, Poland and Hungary.
